PINE MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Glendenning wins Pine Mountain Championships
Doug Glendenning played flawlessly and won the Pine Mountain Championships at the Tonaquint Tennis Park in St. George on Saturday 3-1, 3-1 over L.J. Aldred. Aldred had an inspiring run to the finals with come back wins over Ryan Lakey 1-3, 3-0, 3-0 in the quarterfinals and defeating the #1 seed Jeremy Atkin 1-3, 3-0, 3-1 in the semifinals. Glendenning the #2 seed played with consistency and intensity to go through the draw and win the event without losing a set.
In the consolations Jason Roberts after losing a close opening round match to Dow Christensen 3-2, 2-3, 3-2 he went on to defeat Jon Paul Navar 3-2, 3-2 in the finals.
Earl Morgan and Woody Beck claimed the Pine Mountain Doubles Championship defeating Gary Rink and Charly Harward 3-2, 1-3, 3-2 in the finals. There were over 50 people enjoying the tennis with 31 players and over 20 spectators.
The next event will start at 11:30PM and be in a Doubles Format and held March 15th. All events are open to the public with all ages and abilities encouraged. Cost is $5 per player with all participants receiving sandwiches provided by Jimmy Johns. New balls are provided as well as prizes for winners.
