RED MOUNTAIN OPEN

Glendenning wins Red Mountain Open

David Glendenning fired 10 aces in the first set and then held off a charge by the #1 seed Richard Wigley in a matchup of power tennis to win 3-2, 3-2 and claim the Red Mountain Open win. In the semi-finals Glendenning dropped the second set to Marc Manuele but came back strong in the third 3-2, 1-3, 3-0. Wigley played an inspired match to break Wayne Bullock in the third set and win 2-3, 3-2, 3-1 and set up the final. In the quarterfinals Glendenning defeated Dixie's Jeremy Atkin, 3-1, 3-2, Bullock eliminated Pine View's Jake Madsen 3-2, 3-1 and Wigley defeated Dixie College's Jason Roberts 3-1, 3-2. The older players are not yet willing to allow the juniors the top spots as the four semifinalists consited of Glendenning 32, Wigley 50, Manuele 44 and Bullock 28. Fifty five matches were played by a total of 30 players in the Red Mountain Open Super Saturday Tennis Tournament at Tonaquint Park.

Sam Moyle defeated Greg Bullock 3-2, 3-1 to win the First Consolation event and Mike Schijf defeated Isaac Nelson to win the Second Consolation group 3-1, 1-3, 3-1. Look up your favorite player's results in the Head to Head Scoreboard for individual match results.
