ST. GEORGE: Victorious and undefeated in Super Saturday Tennis, Wade Judy grabbed the Canyon Cup in a close 0-3, 2-3, 3-2 win over Hurricane’s Sam Moyle. Wade had to fight his way through five matches with the last three being three set contests to win the title. Wade's scores were 3-0, 3-0 over Hunter Housley and Ricky Rahde, 2-3, 3-0, 3-0 over Richard Wigley and 3-0, 2-3, 3-1 over Jeremy Atkin. Sam Moyle was able to survive a long and grueling three set match versus #1 seed Mike Schijf 2-3, 3-1, 3-2 breaking Mike's serve in the last game to get into the final.

Sam’s started getting better in the second set after a slow start.” Wade said. “He was hitting his approach shots well and came in behind them with great volleys.” In the third set I wanted to keep it away from his backhand and make him win it with his forehand. His forehand side is more error prone and that strategy also kept him off the net.”

The Canyon Cup event brought out 17 adult and junior players in the Super Saturday Tennis. The level of play continues to increase in both the main draw and the consolations as all the players are getting tournament tough through these events. Eleven year old Ricky Rahde gave the #2 seed Mark Schoutens as much as he could handle as Mark won 3-1, 3-2 fighting off three set points with big serves against Ricky to make it to the Consolation final where he retired with a wrist injury against Marc Manuele.

June 25^th at 9:30A.M the Summer Solstice Open will be played at Tonaquint.
