The Summer Circuit Tennis Championships draws to a close with this event. Thanks to all the participants.

EASTERS THUNDERCLOUD GRAND SLAM CHALLENGER

Richard Wigley def. A.J. Bartlett 3-1, ret August 10th 2002 Tonaquint Courts St. George, Utah

Ten of the best players in the region took part in the ThunderCloud Grand Slam the final event in the summer season. In the quarterfinals the 8 best players squared off in the fast format style of tennis with the Richard Wigley def Mark Nilsson 3-0, 3-0, Jeremy Atkin getting by L.J. Aldred 3-1, 3-2, A.J. Bartlett winning easily over Rhett Housley 3-1. 3-0 and in a tough and well played contest Marc Manuele defeated the #2 seed Dan Krupicka 3-2, 3-2 who went on to win the consolation event.
In the Semifinals Richard Wigley overcame Jeremy Atkin's consistent game 3-2, 0-3, 3-1 while A.J. Bartlett was a winner 3-0, 3-2 over Marc Manuele. In the finals, the eventual champion Richard Wigley got off to a fast start going up 2-0 over A.J. Bartlett and winning the first set 3-1. A.J. Bartlett had to retire with stomach cramps. August 17th a new season begins, the Indian Summer Season and the Anasazi Invitational. It is open to ALL players the best and worst, fastest, slowest, youngest, oldest, men, women, boys, girls and amatuers or professionals.
