KEZOS wins the Anasazi Invitational Tennis Tournament

Kyle Kezos soundly defeated Marc Manuele 3-0, 3-1 in the finals of the Jimmy Johns sponsored Anasazi Invitational Tournament on Saturday. "He kept the ball deep, hit the lines and threw in some big serves when he needed them." "The finals is not tennis but a battle of wills," Manuele said of Kezos who came through the draw to win the first event of the Indian Summer Circuit. In the semifinals Kezos was able to get by an ever improving Sam Moyle of Hurricane 3-0, 3-2 and Manuele took out Jeremy Atkin 3-2, 3-1. "My game is about speed, I started out well, it got hotter, and I got worse and he killed me!" Jeremy said.

Kezos had a long day of tennis taking out the #1 seed in the second round 3-2, 0-3, 3-2 in a match that proves how this fast tennis format is exciting, unpredictable and competitive. Great matches were happening all over St. George's 8 court Tonaquint Tennis Center. Coloradian Randy Skalla, new to the series barely defeated Ryan Christensen and then losing out to Jeremy in a close three setter. Another Coloradian, Annie Chastain played some excellent tennis as she has come here to live and learn to become a top junior tennis player at the St. George Tennis Academy.

Thanks to St. George Leisure Services, Jimmy Johns and the St. George Tennis Academy. Next event is the Spirit Warrior Challenge on August 24th 2002 at 10:30 AM - go to http://www.teachingtennis.com for details Call Rich at 652-0739 or just show up.
