FEATHER CHAMPIONSHIPS:
October
5th A.J. Barlett wins 3-1, 3-2 over Rich Wigley
The
matches were played under perfect weather for tennis and A.J. Bartlett was able
to achieve his second tournament victory of 200 in winning the Red Feather Championships.
He used a good volley game and was able to anticipate passing shots and put away
crisp volleys at the net. In the consolations Dan Krupicka came through the field
to defeat Callie John. The tournament included a mix of new players with Pam Elliott
playing some inspiring tennis making it all the way to the semifinals. Also, Bruce
Haines, who is here for the Senior Games and is considered a favorite for the
55's lost to Richard Wigley in the quarterfinals 2-3, 3-1, 3-2 in an excellent
match. The Fast Format tennis tournament is a very difficult and challenging program.
It is tough, mentally, physically and strategically. To win a tournament like
this playing 4 players in a row within 2 to 3 hours requires a great deal of endurance
and focus. Congratulations to A.J. Bartlett.
