TENNIS TOURNAMENT
INDIAN SUMMER GRAND SLAM:

Novembert 9th Marc Manuele defeats Rich Wigley 3-2, 0-3, 3-0
Under threatening skies, swirling, windy conditions and after a 15 minute rain delay Marc Manuele defeated Richard Wigley in the Indian Summer Grand Slam to win his first event 3-2, 0-3, 3-0. On his 4th match point Marc miss hit a service return badly and cried out "Oh no!" But as both players watched the ball floated up in the wind and slowly fell right on the outside line. Game, set, match, tournament, just as a torrential downpour ended play. The victory was sweet for Manuele as his last six attempts to win in the finals failed and he had lost to Wigley in three of those previous final matches. In the quarterfinals and semifinals Manuele played very strong and won in straight sets 3-2, 3-1 over Victor Strange and Ryan Lakey respectively. Wigley was able to dismiss a tiring Kyle Kezos 3-2, 3-0 who stopped Kenny Burdick's run 3-1, 2-3, 3-2. Sam Moyle of Hurricane added another victory in the consolations over a formidable challenge from David Oliver. Moyle won 3-1, 0-3, 3-1 and is looking forward to the coming high school season. Jeremy Atkin, Russ Christensen, Ralph Kurtz, Kalea Traveler, Jade Frampton, Richard Huck, Isaac and Sam Nelson completed the draw in the final event of the Indian Summer Circuit of the St. George Super Saturday Tennis series.
