INDIAN SUMMER GRAND SLAM

ST. GEORGE -- Former collegiate No. 1 Hank Cobb of SLC combined with Gary Rink of St. George to win the Indian Summer Grand Slam Doubles title coming from behind in every match. In the quarterfinals the pair defeated John Clemons and Jerry Amussen 2-3, 3-2, 3-2 and in the semis they came back to beat Chris Burkley and SUU's Womens' Tennis Coach Lenny Lee 0-3, 3-0, 3-2. In the finals they dropped the first set again before outplaying Dan Krupicka and Richard Wigley 1-3, 3-1, 3-1.

The consolation final was won by Sam Moyle and Jeff Simmons over Dick and Darlene Huck 2-3, 3-0, 3-0.

The Indian Summer Grand Slam singles event was played the previous weekend with Richard Wigley completing a threepeat to end the season and claim the circuit championship for 2003. Bob Burton won the Consolations.

This Saturday the WinterSunshine Circuit begins with the Thanksgiving Invitational. All players are welcome to attend as we are looking for a great turnout and better and better competition.
